Tuesday 22nd of January, Apple Tree.

The nursery I am spending my placement at is Apple Tree nursery, Rothesay Isle of Bute. I go to placement on a Thursday and Friday every week and have been going since September, I start at 9am and finish at 4pm. There is a variety of age ranges within the nursery age range starting at 0-2, 2-3 and 3-5years.
There are 3 room in the nursery which are the baby room,pre-school and toddler room.
In the pre-school room there are 8 curriculum areas that are covered which are Expressive arts,Language and Literacy,Health and well being,Mathematics and Numeracy,Religious and Moral Education,Sciences,Social Studies and Technologies.
In the baby and toddler rooms there are four key features of effectiveness when caring for under three's they are relationships, responsive care, respect and rights of the child.
As learners within the nursery we aim too develop each child in Cognitive,Language,Emotional, Physical and Social aspects of development.

All the children have a set routine each morning for each rooms, the room I'm in the now is the baby room.
In the morning when all the children arrive we get them settled, playing with them and reading them stories. About 10.30am they have snack which is usually fruit and milk or for the younger babies rusks and milk. After snack some of the children go for a nap while the others are in the ball pit or playing with other toys such as teddies, puppets, books and blocks. At 11.15am they all get another little snack fruit or  yoghurt. Then at lunch which is 12pm they will have their own lunch with them that their parents put in, such as jars of mince or mashed up potato.

Activities that I have prepared have been a range of different activities as I was previously in the 3-5 pre-school room have been angel painting, making Christmas decorations,Scotland flags, made tartan pictures and more.
As I have only been in the baby room a short while I have done one unplanned activity and an observation. The activity I done with one of the children was painting (creative play) and letting him pair whatever he wanted while I took notes and wrote up an observation to go in my workplace folder.

In the baby room I help clear up after the babies, feed them,do activities and generally help staff when they need it which is using my initiative.

Throughout my time in the nursery i have enjoyed every minute of it and hope to continue doing it throughout the years to come!
